Nicaragua could reopen its lawsuit against the United States in the International Court of Justice in the Hague for the U.S. dirty war of the 1980s.
President Daniel Ortega made that statement on Thursday at the opening of the new school year at the national university, UNAN, in the capital.
Nicaragua reserves the right to reopen that case, because the United States has never complied with the court ruling stipulating U.S. payment of 17 billion USD in compensation to Nicaragua, the Sandinista leader said...Of course, refiling charges is Nicaragua's right. But why should it matter if Obama is re-elected? Now that I think about it, maybe they meant if Ortega is re-elected. Just a minor typo perhaps.
According to the president, a lawsuit to make the United States comply with the ruling could be filed with the court if President Barack Obama is re-elected for a second term.
